The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra presents its annual musical gift to the community -- the Holiday Choral Spectacular set for Dec. 1 and Dec. 3 at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
For more than a decade, this “sounds of the season” has delighted and amazed audiences with the scope of the orchestra and choral personnel involved. The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Gregory Fuller, Dr. Lauren Calisto-Fowler, Dr. Webb Parker, and Dr. Jay Dean.

The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) recently chose Dr. Frances A. Karnes, retired Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education at The University of Southern Mississippi, as the recipient of its 2015 Legacy Award. Karnes is founder of the University’s Karnes Center for Gifted Studies.
The recent terrorist attacks in Paris have placed even greater significance on the partnership between the University of Southern Mississippi’s National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) and the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL.
The University of Southern Mississippi will ring in the holiday season Wednesday, Dec. 2 with its annual Lighting the Way event on the Hattiesburg campus. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. on the south lawn of the Aubrey K. Lucas Administration Building, and members of the University and local communities are invited.
