College of Science and Technology Dean Joe Whitehead of The University of Southern Mississippi has been inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.

Giving back is a tradition at The University of Southern Mississippi, as evidenced by the school’s steadfast support of the United Way and the agencies it serves.

The university’s annual United Way campaign supports the United Way of Southeast Mississippi’s overall campaign goal of $1.6 million, enabling the organization to fund 21 local partner agencies and its own programs in Forrest, Lamar and Perry counties.

Dr. Thomas Payne, associate professor of criminal justice at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast, was recently inducted into the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) Alumni Hall of Fame at a ceremony on the college’s Perkinston campus.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced Wednesday, Oct. 27, its Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for student-athletes who first enrolled in school during the 2003 academic year and the University of Southern Mississippi compiled a GSR of 85 percent.
