University of Southern Mississippi student Amolie LeAnn Egloff of Diamondhead, Miss., a junior majoring in history and with a minor in political science, has accepted a summer internship with U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker(R-Miss.) in Washington, D.C.


The University of Southern Mississippi has a new Android app available which allows the Southern Miss community to stay connected to campus at anytime and from anyplace.


In helping make The University of Southern Mississippi a welcoming environment for persons with disabilities, the Southern Miss Office of Disability Accommodations (ODA) reminds students, faculty, staff and visitors to avoid blocking the use of campus features that create access for persons with disability.

With that in mind, The University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for the Study of War and Society will focus on the topic of defeat for the 6th Annual Richard McCarthy Lecture Series.


Dr. Mac Alford is known for his cheery disposition and omnipresent smile. Lately, he’s had a good reason for both.


An assistant professor of biological sciences and curator of the university’s herbarium, Alford learned last week he was the recipient of a prestigious and highly competitive Fulbright Foreign Scholarship.


The award allows Alford, whose areas of expertise include tropical plants and plant diversity, to teach and conduct research at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia. His nine-month appointment begins in October.
