The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries' first Science Café for the fall series, "Little People of Flores" will be held Monday, August 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. in Cook Library's event room, located next to Starbucks in room 105A. These events are free and open to the public.


Dr. Joe Paul, vice president for Student Affairs at The University of Southern Mississippi, implores students constantly to remember one basic tenant: “Leave it better than you found it.”


Garrett Wright, 21, a senior construction engineering major from Gulfport, Miss., has taken that challenge to heart.


The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi will present the free community workshop, “Learn How to Use Microsoft Office” Thursday, Sept. 1 from 3 – 4 p.m. in library room 213 on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.


A bright blue sky and sweltering summer temperatures greeted thousands of students scurrying to class on Wednesday, Aug. 24 -- the first day of the 2011 Fall Semester at The University of Southern Mississippi.


Through state-of-the-art technology and smart energy use, The University of Southern Mississippi has cut energy consumption costs on its Hattiesburg campus by nearly $2 million in the past year.


The savings are the result of an initiative by the Southern Miss Physical Plant to further maximize energy efficiency and reduce utility expenditures, keeping with one of the university’s four strategic priorities - healthy minds, bodies and campuses, said Physical Plant Director Dr. Chris Crenshaw.
