Three University of Southern Mississippi talents are headed to New York City next month to debut “Sondheim in the City,” a cabaret-style production that showcases the multi-talented Maryann Kyle, associate professor of voice in the School of Music.


The University of Southern Mississippi will soon become home to an important part of U.S. history.


The Southern Miss season-opening game versus Louisiana Tech will still be played as scheduled, but some pregame and halftime festivities have been cancelled as a result of potentially hazardous weather conditions related to Tropical Strom Lee.


The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department advises members of the university community to be aware of the potential for inclement weather conditions due to Tropical Storm Lee, which is forecast to impact south Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana this weekend and through Tuesday, Sept. 6. Members of the campus community are advised to monitor weather news updates on local radio and television newscasts, as well as through the Internet.


Members of The University of Southern Mississippi football team, including head coach Larry Fedora, paid a visit to the DuBard School for Language Disorders on Friday, Sept. 2.


Enrollment at The University of Southern Mississippi has reached an all-time high, as a fourth-straight record freshman class and an emphasis on student retention have pushed overall enrollment up by nearly five percent.


A duplicated enrollment record of 17,968 represents a substantial increase over the Fall 2010 semester, and includes another record freshman class that is eight percent larger than a year ago.
