The Department of Nutrition and Food Systems at The University of Southern Mississippi will host the 2nd Annual Current Topics Seminar on Friday, Nov. 4 in Room 216 of the Thad Cochran Center.


With the support of grant funding through The Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) is establishing the nation’s first Institute for the Study of Sport Incidents.


University of Southern Mississippi graduate student Tabitha Ankerson made an interesting discovery while attending the annual Career Fair Fall 2011 on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Thad Cochran Center.


Alumni and supporters of The University of Southern Mississippi were recognized for service to the institution Oct. 22 during the annual Alumni Association homecoming luncheon awards ceremony and business meeting.


When the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble takes to the stage to open its season Thursday, Nov. 3 professor of music and director of bands Dr. Thomas V. Fraschillo will lead the group in some of his favorite works from a career that has inspired a generation of music educators around the globe. It is a poignant reminder that this musical force retires after 25 years of service this spring.


Collin Cargill earned plenty of accolades in his baseball career at The University of Southern Mississippi, but the final honor presented to him as a Golden Eagle might be the most rewarding.


The University of Southern Mississippi’s Department of Community Health Sciences and Southern Mississippi Area Health Education Center is hosting the public health symposium, “Global Change, Global Health,” Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. – noon in the Fleming Education Center auditorium on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. 


The Southern Regional Public Safety Institute (SPRSI) will hold a training exercise for its cadets, along with local law enforcement agencies, at Van Hall on the University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus Thursday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Van Hall is located on the north end of the campus next to Bond Hall and near West Fourth Street.
