Count University of Southern Mississippi doctoral student Amit Kumar among the legion of scientists, researchers and laboratory assistants working around the clock to defeat Alzheimer’s Disease.

 

Thus far Kumar’s research has taken him from his homeland in New Delhi, India to the campus of Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss., and recently to Queensland, Australia as a presenter at the 4th Annual Protein Misfolding and Neurological Disorders Meeting.

Samantha Rayborn, a University of Southern Mississippi Honors College student from Hattiesburg, recently participated in the Emerging Scholars in Political Science Conference at The University of Michigan. She was one of only nine undergraduate and master's students selected from across the country to participate.

University of Southern Mississippi Distinguished Professor of Gifted Education Dr. Frances Karnes was honored for her service to the field of gifted education with a key to the city of Hattiesburg by Mayor Johnny DuPree during the Mississippi Association for Gifted conference, held last week in Hattiesburg.
