Founders’ Day on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus April 1 was a celebration of the institution’s past, its future and the people who have made it what it is today.

 

It was also the first day of the presidency of Dr. Rodney Bennett, the University’s 10th executive officer.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus celebrated the university’s Founders’ Day with a reception honoring employees for continuous service of 10 and 20 years to Southern Miss. In recognition of their service, honored employees received a commemorative pin from the university.

The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) will hold a free, fair housing workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center at 220 West Front St. in Hattiesburg.

The University of Southern Mississippi's annual International Food Fair, featuring native delicacies prepared in part by international students,  will be held Thursday, April 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Baptist Student Union.  A $2 donation per person is requested.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library will host a reception Monday, April 15 from 4 – 6 p.m. for the “Spring Fling” art exhibit currently on display. The exhibit, featuring artwork by several artists associated with the Pass Christian Art Association (PCAA), will be on display in the library on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach through June 17.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast celebrated the completion of the historic restoration of Hardy Hall and Lloyd Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony March 30 during the Southern Miss Jazz and Blues Festival on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
