As part of a concerted Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Eagles Engaged, The University of Southern Mississippi has selected April Gonzalez as Director of Pathway Experiences after completion of a national search.

Because of the generous support of a University of Southern Mississippi alumnus, David Sliman II of Ocean Springs can pursue his research interests in biochemistry that he hopes will lead to a career in genetic engineering.  

 

That alumnus, Donald Drapeau, was honored Sept. 14 at the University’s Hattiesburg campus with the announcement of the naming of the Drapeau Center for Undergraduate Research.

Mississippi Home of Your Own (HOYO) will sponsor a free, one-day homebuyer education workshop Sat., Oct. 15, for any residents in Hinds and surrounding counties interested in buying a home. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Willie Morris Public Library Conference Room at 4912 Old Canton Road in Jackson.

The University of Southern Mississippi was visited by American energy expert Dr. Jay Hakes last week for a dialogue concerning the consumption and expansion of energy in a panel discussion and lecture held at the University’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The School of Social Work at The University of Southern received a $359,712 grant renewal from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). With open enrollment for 2017 only a few weeks away, the funding will support local in-person assistance to help Mississippi consumers navigate, shop, and enroll in the wide variety of Marketplace coverage options.

Dr. Marcus Coleman, an assistant professor of communication studies at The University of Southern Mississippi, is monitoring these changes closely.

Oxiteno, a global leader in surfactants and specialty chemicals, announced today, an investment in a new Research & Development (R&D) laboratory in the United States. The R&D lab is the output of a partnership between Oxiteno and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) and will be located in The Garden, the University’s 521-acre innovation and commercialization park. The Lab is a great example of Oxiteno’s commitment to international markets, and USM’s commitment to innovation.
