Motivational speaker and author Keith Brown, popularly known as “Mr. I’m Possible,” will give a talk Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Thad Cochran Center Ballroom on the Hattiesburg campus. Sponsored by the USM Office of Multicultural Programs and Services, this event is free and open to the public.


The University of Southern Mississippi’s University Libraries will host a Science Café with the Building with Biology Forum “Should We Engineer the Mosquito?” Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the Polymer Science Auditorium at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the university community, as well as members of the general public.


University of Southern Mississippi film students were offered the opportunity to capture history this summer in a developing documentary detailing a space relic’s journey from Louisiana to Mississippi.


In early June, 13 basic and advanced film studies students from the University’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach began filming the voyage of a forgotten spacecraft known as the S-IC-15, or Saturn V rocket stage, from NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to the INFINITY Science Center in Pearlington.


The University of Southern Mississippi’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Hattiesburg will join forces with the Gulf Coast center to conduct a series of Business 101 workshops in September.
