Faculty and staff members of The University of Southern Mississippi University Libraries were honored at the Mississippi Library Association (MLA) annual conference held in Vicksburg Oct. 18 – 21. Emilie Aplin, Elizabeth La Beaud, Jennifer Brannock, Sarah Mangrum and Dawn Smith received awards for their dedication and services to University Libraries at Southern Miss.

Science Café on the Coast, a collaboration among The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Library, Harrison County Library System, Long Beach Public Library and Hancock County Library System, will host “Oyster Aquaculture” Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Pass Christian Public Library.

The Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies will host the EAGLE Saturday Gifted Studies Program Jan. 21 – Feb. 18, 2017 at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. This year’s programs embrace the initiatives of the STEAM movement: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  Each course has been carefully designed to engage the young minds that will help to shape the future of Mississippi, our nation, and possibly the world.
