The Inspired Leaders series at The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Business continues on Thursday, Nov. 10 with a presentation by Steve Cannon, CEO of AMB Group, LLC. Cannon will address students at 1 p.m. in Scianna Hall’s McDonnell Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus.

Under the direction of Dr. Ben McIlwain, The University of Southern Mississippi Trombone Choir and Octet will perform their fall concert Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium.  The group will be joined by soloist Master Sgt. Sam Woodhead, solo and principal trombonist of the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own.” The event is free and open to the public.

The University of Southern Mississippi has once again been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

 

The Honor Roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus community partnerships. The Honor Roll’s Presidential Award is the highest federal recognition an institution can receive for its commitment to community, service-learning, and civic engagement.

Acclaimed R&B and hip-hop artist Keri Hilson is the featured performer for The University of Southern Mississippi’s annual Eaglepalooza Saturday, Nov. 5 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Spirit Park on the Hattiesburg campus. This event is free and follows USM’s home 2:30 p.m. Conference USA football game against the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

The University of Southern Mississippi has been recognized for its commitment to providing educational services for student-veterans and their families with a spot in Military Times’ prestigious 2017 “Best for Vets” college rankings.”

Dolly Loyd, Instructor Emerita of Marketing at The University of Southern Mississippi, died Oct. 29 in Hattiesburg. She was 73.

A memorial service for Loyd will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at the church. Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg is in charge of arrangements.
