The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has been ranked in the Top 50 Universities for Professional Sales Education in the United States in the 2017 Sales Education Foundation Annual Report.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Human Rights and Civil Liberties will host a forum on immigration Tuesday, Oct. 2 from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Gonzales Auditorium of the Liberal Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus. Admission is free, and members of the University and local communities are invited.

Choral Activities at The University of Southern Mississippi will present the first choral chamber concerts of the 2018-19 season on Oct. 7 and 8. Both events are free and are open to the public.

Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker visited The University of Southern Mississippi recently in recognition of National Online Learning Day. Celebrated in September, National Online Learning Day showcases how students of all ages are thriving with the ability to learn online - anywhere, anytime.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) celebrated the opening of the new $12.2-million Marine Research Center (MRC) Friday, Sept. 21, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Port of Gulfport.

 

Located on Highway 90 at the Port’s entrance, the new research center is the centerpiece for a new maritime blue economy in South Mississippi. The MRC provides shoreside support to USM’s 135-foot oceanographic research vessel, the R/V Point Sur, and to a number of academic programs.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Office of Sustainability has a packed lineup of events on tap in October on its Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses as part of National Campus Sustainability Month.

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Music presents a Guest Artist Series event featuring pianist Dr. Joel Schoenhals on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. Dr. Schoenhals will also present a free masterclass on Oct. 9 from 1:15-2:45 p.m. in Marsh. Both are free and open to the public.
