In a partnership like no other at The University of Southern Mississippi, the Luckyday Foundation of Ridgeland, Miss., is continuing its support of the Luckyday Citizenship Scholars Program at Southern Miss with an additional commitment of more than $8.7 million through The USM Foundation. The Luckyday Foundation has provided over $35.7 million to the program to date, making it the University’s most generous benefactor.


Founded by the late Frank R. Day of Jackson, Miss., the Luckyday Foundation funds scholarships for Mississippi high school seniors who are exemplary students with outstanding leadership skills and community involvement.


A University of Southern Mississippi (USM) educator long prized for her talents in the classroom and as an administrator has been honored with a noteworthy role in the school’s fall 2018 graduation ceremonies.

University of Southern Mississippi (USM) faculty members are using a new software platform to keep track of their achievements and activities in a way that facilitates use of the information.

The platform, Digital Measures, was developed by Watermark and customized by the company for the needs of the USM faculty. It allows easier creation of CVs, publication lists, and other self-reports needed for various purposes such as tenure dates, scheduled teaching, promotions, and web profiles, as well as a method for academic programs to complete accreditation reports, among other uses. Faculty members can enter their information once, and then manage the software to use it in a variety of ways.


In an effort to help faculty acquire more productive ways to engage student in service learning opportunities, The University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) is sponsoring an educational seminar in spring, 2019.
