Teens and young adults with disabilities can be surprisingly direct about their futures. Some want to go to college. Some want to work. All want to be independent and make decisions about how they will live their lives. Some young people simply need some guidance to help them decide how to achieve their choices.

Dr. Sara Rzeszutek, an associate professor of history at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York and author of James and Esther Cooper Jackson: Love and Courage in the Black Freedom Movement, will deliver a talk entitled “Southern Black Labor Radicalism in the Postwar Years” Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. in room 101 of the Liberal Arts Building on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus. Admission is free.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 29, due to anticipated winter weather conditions, beginning late Monday evening and continuing throughout Tuesday. Monday night classes will meet as scheduled, and operations will resume as regularly scheduled on Wednesday.
