The American Advertising Federation (AAF), Mississippi Gulf Coast chapter, honored 13 University of Southern Mississippigraphic design students at its annual dinner last month at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi.

The Student ADDY Competition is a unique national awards program designed for college students, according to AAF website. Students enter their work at the local level for the chance to advance on to regional and national judging. Southern Miss won a total of 7 gold and 9 silver awards, in addition to receiving top honors.

Kate Stanley, a senior from Slaughter, KY won for Best of Show, which is the highest honor awarded in the competition. Kelly Snelson, a senior from Diamondhead, won Judges Choice for Photography and Deonica Davis, a senior from Pearl, won Judges Choice for Illustration.

“Winning ADDY Awards looks really good on our resumes, because we’re judged by professionals,” Snelson said, who has won several ADDY awards in past years. “Anybody from Mississippi can submit work, but Southern Miss was the only school that won this year.”
