Faculty Lecture Recital with Ed Hafer Featuring Galit Kaunitz and Ellen Elder Set for Sept. 20

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Music presents a Faculty Lecture Recital with Dr. Ed Hafer, Dr. Galit Kaunitz, and Dr. Ellen Elder on Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. This free recital will feature music written for oboe and piano by composers affected by the Holocaust and World War II.

In this collaboration, Associate Professor of Musicology Dr. Hafer will give a lecture on the music, the composers, and the challenges those composers faced in Europe during the war. The lecture will be followed by a performance by Dr. Kaunitz, oboe, and Dr. Elder, piano.

The program includes Suite for Oboe and Piano by Pavel Haas, and Sonata for Oboe and Piano by Hans Gal. The total duration of this recital will be one hour.
