Associate Professor of Music Education, David Hebert, has just returned from giving a presentation for a symposium in Sweden at Gothenburg University on the theme of Cultural Translation and Transculturality. Dr. Hebert was the only musicologist invited to this event with prolific linguists, literature scholars, sociologists, and historians from Europe and Asia.
The organizers are now planning books in both English and Japanese based on the symposium. In early September Hebert also adjudicated music research articles for both Journal of Music and Meaning and International Journal of Law and Conflict Resolution, and completed his work as editor for a special issue of the Finnish Journal of Music Education that is now going to press.
In early August, he represented University of Southern Mississippi at the biennial world conference of the International Society for Music Education conference in Beijing, China, where he presented an academic paper and served as both Chair for a symposium and Respondent for an international panel.
