McCormack, Elias Recognized by United Way for Volunteerism

BILOXI, Miss. – The United Way of South Mississippi recently hosted its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards Breakfast at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi to honor volunteers who contribute to the organization’s success. Southern Miss Gulf Park campus employees, Edward McCormack, associate dean and professor for Gulf Coast Libraries, and Christy Elias, coordinator of student development and leadership, were among those recognized.

Receiving one of two Community Impact Awards, McCormack was recognized for volunteering his time to find ways to positively influence the community. His award recognized more than ten years of service as a Community Investment Team member and Team Chair.

Elias was recognized with the Volunteer Center Award for her support of all volunteer events. Working with university students, Elias assisted in coordinating students and volunteer community service projects throughout south Mississippi.
