The 2017 Petal - Southern Miss Powwow, a celebration of Native American traditions, will be held in Petal, Miss. at Willie Hinton Park April 8-9. This annual event will include music, social dance, arts and crafts, along with food and novelty vendors.
The Powwow will be hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles Intertribal Society and the Center for American Indian Research and Studies, partnering with the Petal Chamber of Commerce and the city of Petal for the event.
Highlights of the 2017 Petal-Southern Miss Powwow include:

*11 a.m. and 5 p.m. – Gourd dancing
*1 p.m. and 7 p.m. – Grand entry
Sunday, April 9
*11 a.m. Gourd dancing
*1 p.m. Grand entry
Powwow sponsors include the USM Colleges of Education and Psychology, Arts and Letters, and Science and Technology; the USM President’s Office; Forrest General Hospital; the Mississippi Humanities Council; and the Mississippi Council on Developmental Disabilities, among others.
