Repertory Dance Company to Present a Dance for Film

Main Content

The Department of Dance Repertory Dance Company presents Dance for Film April 11 a 7 p.m. and midnight and on April 12 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Performances will be held in the Woods Theatre in the University of Southern Mississippi's Theatre and Dance Building.  Admission is $5, check or cash on only.

Dance for Film is part of the Repertory Dance Company's site-specific dances.  Performances are uniquely choreographed around different sites and provide an opportunity for viewers to experience parts of Southern Miss' campus, as well as parts of the Hattiesburg community.

The event will feature four junior choreographers, Matumbe Himons, Gabrielle Slack, James Mose and Jessica Puckett.
“Each film creatively merges the choreographers’ unique movement styles and comments on the locations/environments in which the works take place: the Hattiesburg Train Depot, the halls and classroom of the Theatre and Dance Building, a trendy performance space clad with exposed brick, and in the intimate confines of a local apartment, " said Meredith Early, instructor of dance at Southern Miss.
