The University of Southern Mississippi will present a Faculty Artist Series performance of the Logio Duo on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus.

Featuring School of Music faculty members Lois Leventhal and Joe Brumbeloe on piano, the program is entitled “Red White and Rhapsody in Blue!” The duo’s virtuosic skills are put to the test in a spectacular performance of all-American, four-hand piano selections.

The duo was the breakout hit during the fourth and fifth seasons of FestivalSouth.

“We’ve been musical cohorts for about the last five years,” said Dr. Lois Leventhal. “We both love the four-hand literature for piano and it seems so does the Hattiesburg community as well as our Southern Miss students.”

The program includes Rhapsody in Blue in a four-hand arrangement of the Gershwin classic by Henry Levine and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein as arranged by John Musto. Also on the program are two arrangements by the duo; Variations on America by Charles Ives and Carolina Shout by James P. Johnson.

“We look forward to discovering new literature each year.” Said Joe Brumbeloe. “Too much hilarity ensues at rehearsals, but that’s part of what makes it so much fun.”

The concert is free and open to the public.
