With a gift of $10,000 to The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation, alumnus E.G. Warren has established the E.G. and Darlene Warren Scholarship Endowment.
By establishing an endowed scholarship at his alma mater, E.G. hopes to inspire others to give the gift of education. “Giving back to your university is a good way to help people receive an education, who otherwise could not, by helping perpetuate a scholarship and to leave a legacy,” said E.G. “Darlene and I hope that students will benefit from this scholarship and know there is financial assistance to help them earn an excellent education.”
E.G. attended classes at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast while serving in the Air Force Reserve and working full-time to support his wife and daughter, Melissa. He understands firsthand the struggles students face to earn a good education while trying to support a family.
“I had to work and pay all of my expenses for my education without the help of scholarships or grants,” recalls E.G. “I hope this scholarship can help students who face similar challenges to earn a degree, especially those who would have otherwise been unable to accomplish that.”
The E.G. and Darlene Warren scholarship will be awarded to a student attending The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast campuses with a 3.0 grade point average. The State Farm Companies Foundation Matching Gift Program aided the establishment of the endowment.
