As part of Season 22: A Proud Tradition, “Broadway Traditions” will feature fan favorites from show tunes such as Cats, Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie and Grease. The chorale will also be accompanied by guest soloists and instrumentalists from the University’s School of Music.

“Broadway Traditions” will be presented Friday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus in Gulfport and on Sunday, May 14 at 3 p.m. at the Fleming Education Center Auditorium on the University’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

“It is truly a wonderful experience to be able to come together to make music, and for it to include everything from masterworks to Broadway,” said Dr. Jonathan Kilgore, artistic director for the Gulf Coast Civic Chorale. “The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale’s legacy continues to impact the Gulf Coast, and we are already excited about what season 23 will hold for us as we share our talents and music.”

“Broadway Traditions” is the finale of the Gulf Coast Civic Chorale’s yearlong theme “A Proud Tradition.”  The theme, “A Proud Tradition,” reflects the significance of the chorale as a family steeped in the tradition of musical excellence and pride.
