LONG BEACH, Miss. – Honoring the 10th anniversary of the Sept.11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale will present “A Tribute to 9/11” on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Fleming Education Center auditorium on The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
The tribute will commemorate the tragic event with music and reflection for those who sacrificed and have been touched forever by the events of that day. In addition to the musical arrangements presented by the chorale, the event will feature Congressman Steven Palazzo and Pamela Stennis Wilkins, a survivor of the Twin Tower attacks.
The chorale, beginning its 17th season at Southern Miss, serves as a community outreach program welcoming all members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast community. More than 90 members sing in the ensemble, which is led by John Flanery, assistant choral director at Southern Miss.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.usm.edu/gc/civic_chorale or call 228.865.4573.
