Caitlin Leumas of Mandeville, La., a senior in the School of Human Performance and Recreation at The University of Southern Mississippi, received the C.L. Dews, Jr. Distinguished Student Scholar Athlete Award based on her athletic, academic and leadership abilities.
The award is given annually to one male and one female senior athlete. Recipients are selected based on academics, leadership, athletic ability and performance.
“As a product of Southern Miss's kinesiotherapy program, I feel incredibly honored to be recognized among my equally deserving peers as the recipient of this award,” Leumas said.
Leumas, who is the starting defender for the Southern Miss women’s soccer team, has earned countless awards for her athletic abilities throughout her career at the university. Following graduation, she plans to pursue graduate studies in physical therapy.
