University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast students, Virginia Hutchinson of Long Beach and Erika Hosler of Gulfport, were both named spring 2013 scholarship recipients in the university’s NASA Space Grant program.
Hutchinson, a senior mathematics major with an applied computer science minor, and Hosler, a senior mathematics major, were selected based on academic performance, as well as the recommendation of faculty and the department chair. A total of $2,400 in scholarships was awarded to students in 9 science and technology disciplines at Southern Miss.
The NASA Space Grant program is designed to encourage and motivate excellence in student performance and to raise awareness of NASA employment and research opportunities among students with NASA relevant majors in the Southern Miss College of Science and Technology.
