The University of Southern Mississippi hosted more than 100 students in grades 9-12 from high schools in central and south Mississippi for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) held Feb. 23 on the Hattiesburg campus.

The event included mathematics competition in which students answered a set of questions based on the state’s high school mathematics curriculum.  The goal of the event was to offer students a fun and intellectually rewarding activity through alternative learning experiences that strengthened their math skills. It was supported by the university’s Department of Mathematics and Office of the President.
