The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present a program featuring The Southern Chorale, Concert Choir, Oratorio Chorus, and the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale on Monday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, in Bay St. Louis.

“Burchard has become known for rich harmonies for voices,” said Dr. Gregory Fuller, director of choral activities. “The accompaniment of strings adds an even more luxurious layers woven with lyric melody. This music captures the tone of Holy week."

The concert will also feature Samuel Barbers' famous, Adagio for Strings that outside of being a classic masterwork for orchestra, has been featured in countless movie and television soundtracks.

Burchard is an award-winning composer, scholar and educator, his choral works have been performed throughout the United States and Europe having had world premieres in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal. His music includes over thirty commissioned works for choir.
