Undergraduate Research Week Colloquium set for April 15

In celebration of National Undergraduate Research Week, the Center for Undergraduate Research at The University of Southern Mississippi will hold a colloquium Wednesday, April 15 at noon in room 110 in Cook Library on the Hattiesburg campus, showcasing Eagle Scholar research projects that have won external recognition.

Presentations will be given by students Anthony Abshire (Chemistry and Biochemistry); Christopher Cruz, Devin Drawdy and Brandon Ganucheau (Child and Family Studies); and Samantha Russell (Dance) about their work. The University community and general public are invited, and light refreshments will be served.

The Eagle Scholars Program for Undergraduate Research (Eagle SPUR) is a competitive funding competition in which undergraduates conduct independent research or creative activity in collaboration with a faculty affiliate. Students may receive up to $1,000 to support travel, to purchase equipment and supplies, and/or to be used as a stipend.

Southern Miss is committed to supporting student research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A proclamation passed by the Mississippi Legislature proclaiming April 13-17 as Undergraduate Research Week in Mississippi was introduced by Southern Miss President Rodney D. Bennett.
