Accounting students at The University of Southern Mississippi will have a unique opportunity to interact with professionals in the field as part of a “Meet the Firms” event set for Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Trent Lott Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
More than 20 accounting firms are scheduled to attend the event, which will be held from 5-7 p.m. This marks the fifth year that the College of Business has sponsored the program.
“This event has proven to be essential to our accounting students trying to connect with potential employers,” said Amy Yeend, assistant director of Career Services in the College of Business. “By having a streamlined recruiting process, we can attract more employers, allow our students to better compete against students from other schools, and ultimately increase the number of students participating in interviews and getting hired.”
Yeend points out that the event serves as the kick-off to a two-week period of campus interviews for students seeking accounting internships and full-time career opportunities.
