In conjunction with the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, members of TRIAD AmeriCorps at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus presented firefighters at the Long Beach Fire Department with a certificate of appreciation.

In honor of the 16th anniversary of 9/11, members of TRIAD AmeriCorps at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus conducted a community service project for the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, members of TRIAD AmeriCorps held a special presentation in recognition of the firefighters at Long Beach Fire Department, presenting them with a certificate of appreciation for their service to the community and doughnuts as a token of gratitude.

“We just wanted to thank them for their awesome work in the community, and for being so diligent at what they do,” said TRIAD AmeriCorps member Ronnesha Render. “Because they sacrifice so much of themselves for the good of the community, we wanted to let them know that they are greatly appreciated.”

Training, Resources and Information for the Advancement of Disability (TRIAD) Service AmeriCorps is an inclusive service program funded through the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service. The TRIAD AmeriCorps service program at Southern Miss focuses on providing health-related education to improve lifestyle changes for economically disadvantaged youth with disabilities.
