The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi honored students and faculty during its annual Awards Ceremony held Friday, April 22 in the Scianna Hall McDonnell Auditorium.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Hattiesburg will join forces with the Gulf Coast center to conduct a series of Business 101 workshops in May.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to core values, Duff Capital Investors fits the bill perfectly as the recipient of the 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year award presented by The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Business.

 

With headquarters in Columbia, Miss., Duff Capital Investors (DCI) is co-owned by businessmen and brothers, James and Thomas Duff. The brothers were honored during a special ceremony on Wednesday, April 27 at the Trent Lott Center.

The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus concluded its Executives On: Lecture Series April 19 with a large gathering of students, alumni and community members.

Brad McMullan, CEO of bfac.com in Ridgeland, Miss., will be the guest speaker during a special presentation at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 in the McDonnell Auditorium of Scianna Hall on The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus.

University of Southern Mississippi Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Steven R. Moser has announced the selection of Kate Howard as the University’s Assistant Vice President and Dean of Admissions, effective June 27, 2016, following a national search. The appointment is pending IHL Board approval.

 

The highly successful McNair Scholars Program at The University of Southern Mississippi is saying farewell to a devoted advocate and hello to a new home as the program enters an exciting transitional phase.

Dr. Faye Gilbert, dean of the College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been recognized with the inaugural “Dean of the Year” award by Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) honor society.

 

South City Records and Southern Prohibition will host SCR Fest Saturday, April 9 at the Southern Prohibition Tap Room from 1-5 p.m. in downtown Hattiesburg. Presented by Turan Foley Chevrolet Cadillac Buick, the day includes live musical performances headlined by The Devil Music Co.

 

Next month, University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus instructor Dr. Greg Bradley will make his ninth trip to Cuba as an economics educator and conference presenter. With every passing visit, Bradley finds himself as much a student as he is a teacher.

 

Bradley will represent the Southern Miss College of Business as a lecturer and panelist during the Hominis 2016 conference, set for May 7-15 in Havana. He will be joined by professors from the University of Havana and the University of Vienna (Austria) to discuss the convergence of economics and psychology.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Business is preparing for its second installment of the Executives On: Lecture Series on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. 

Graduate students in a sport marketing & public relations class at The University of Southern Mississippi have teamed up with the Biloxi Shuckers’ Minor League Baseball organization for a unique promotional project that could be a home run for both parties.

 

Under the guidance of Dr. Doug Manning, assistant professor of sport management, the class has been assessing the current marketing efforts of the Shuckers to create a marketing plan in an application of theory for organizational issues. The team is the Double A affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers.
