The University of Southern Mississippi’s Department of Human Capital Development will launch the Professional Development Series, a new workshop series designed for training and human resource professionals, March 30-31. All sessions will be held on the Gulf Park campus.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Civic Chorale continues to celebrate the value of long-lived musical practices in its upcoming concert “Choral Traditions” March 3 and March 5.

The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi has maintained elite status internationally with re-accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The accreditation covers a five-year period.

 

The 20th anniversary of the Hurricane Bowl at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) will offer students a rare hands-on glimpse at what their future may hold in marine science.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Nurse Anesthesia Program welcomed its newest cohort to the Hattiesburg campus for orientation earlier this month. The new class consists of 20 students, forming the program’s fifth group since being established in 2012.

 

 

For the next three years, these students will learn didactic anesthesia principles in the classroom and practice their skills in clinical settings throughout the State of Mississippi. 

 

Dr. Marjorie Geisz-Everson, assistant professor and interim director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program in The University of Southern Mississippi College of Nursing, has been elected to Distinguished Fellowship of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in Nursing.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Nursing has been recognized as one of the nation’s best online graduate nursing programs in rankings recently released by U.S. News & World Report. In its 2017 rankings edition, U.S. News places the Southern Miss College of Nursing at No. 57 nationally – the highest spot for any Mississippi college or university.

Two University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park undergraduates have been awarded grants to advance their research ideas through the Eagle Scholar Program for Undergraduate Research (Eagle SPUR).

Science Café on the Coast, hosted by The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Library, will present “Dogs vs. Cats – Their Noses Know” on Monday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at Margaret Sherry Memorial Library in Biloxi.

Students, ninth through 12th grade, are invited to attend the Science Careers and Research Encounters program slated for Saturday, Jan. 14 at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach.

Economic trends and forecasts will take center stage during the Economic Outlook 2017 Forum hosted by The University of Southern Mississippi at two different venues this year -- the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach on Thursday, Jan. 12 and the Hattiesburg campus on Thursday, Feb. 2.
