The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Connoisseur Series presents the Texas Guitar Quartet on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium in the Hattiesburg area. The free concert is presented in part by the generous support of Partners for the Arts.

Made up of award-winning members Isaac Bustos, Joseph Palmer, Alejandro Montiel, and Jay Kacherski, the Texas Guitar Quartet is known for their daring programs and dazzling virtuosity. Pushing boundaries, the group premieres new works by composers such as Joseph Williams II, Peter Lieuwen, while also creating challenging arrangements of classic orchestral works.

“[It’s] a tremendous accomplishment for the classical guitar,” stated Guitar International in a review on the quartet’s debut album Red. “The Texas Guitar Quartet performs with virtuosity, clarity, balance, and a refined character which will no doubt help to establish them as one of today’s leading guitar quartets.”

The Texas Guitar Quartet has performed world-wide, with notable performances including the Encuentro Internacional de Guitarra 2016 in Nicaragua, the Guitar Foundation of America Convention, and the Texas Music Festival. The quartet has released two albums, Red and Icon, that have both been highly praised by critics and fans alike.
