Mississippi Sen. Chris McDaniel came away impressed following his initial visit to the DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi.


The Office of University Communications will move from its location in College Hall to the first floor on the east side of Bond Hall Monday-Tuesday, July 11-12. The University of Southern Mississippi Katrina Research Center invites the community to a reception honoring Edgewater Cleaners for their support of two quilts made from volunteers’ t-shirts following Hurricane Katrina. The reception and quilt display will be held Friday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at Edgewater Cleaners, located at 2575 Pass Road in Biloxi.


Brett Favre stood on the sidelines at M.M. Roberts Stadium Tuesday morning looking every bit as fit and energetic as the NFL quarterback who carved out a Hall of Fame career.


Could he still play? “I can still throw the ball as well as I ever have. No question about that,” said Favre as he gazed out at the youngsters assembled for his inaugural 7-on-7 football camp on The University of Southern Mississippi campus.


Dr. Frances Karnes, Distinguished University Professor of Gifted Education in The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education and director of the Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, is included among the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW).


Jeff Miller, chief security officer for the National Football League, and Todd Barnes, senior event planner for Populous, will team up to lead a keynote session of the 2011 National Sport Safety and Security Conference & Exhibition set for Aug. 2-4 in New Orleans.
