On Tuesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium, University of Southern Mississippi School of Music faculty pianist Elizabeth Moak will showcase pieces by Judith Lang Zaimont in a recital of music from Moak’s newly released CD, “Art, Fire, Soul: Piano Works of Judith Lang Zaimont.” The recital is free and the public is invited.


Two of The University of Southern Mississippi’s brightest academic stars are recipients of this year’s 25th annual Higher Education Appreciation Day, Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) award.


Rebecca Anne Masters of Ellisville, Miss., a student in the university’s prestigious Honors College, and Dr. Andrew Wiest, a professor of history and internationally recognized expert on the Vietnam War, were announced as recipients of the award during a visit to the State Capitol Feb. 28.


Rainel Joubert, a violin student at The University of Southern Mississippi took fourth place honors at the prestigious Sphinx Competition held last month in Detroit, Mich.


The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation in partnership with the de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries announced today the winners of the 26th Annual Ezra Jack Keats New Writer and New Illustrator Book Awards.


The 2012 awards ceremony will be held on April 12th in conjunction with The University of Southern Mississippi’s Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival.


When The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus comes to The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus for a performance March 23, it will be led by School of Music alumnus and deputy commander of the band Major Bruce Pulver in a program of popular favorites and classic band repertoire.
